TOOTH WHITENING
A great way to give your smile a brighter more youthful appearance! Research shows that your smile is one of the first things people notice, and that people with whiter teeth are perceived as being more attractive. We offer both in office whitening and a home / custom tray products.
Using the Zoom Light technology, dramatic changes typically occur in about 1 hour. After a rubber dam is placed, a gel is applied to the surface of your teeth and activated with the Zoom Light. Alternatively, you may choose to have custom trays made for your teeth, and complete the whitening in the comfort of your own home ( while sleeping, commuting, watching tv...). Ten 1 hour applications will usually have your teeth looking 2 - 3 shades lighter. |

COMPOSITE BONDING
This procedure uses a plastic resin material which is bonded to the tooth. The materials come in a wide range of shades, translucencies and stains which can be layered to create life like restorations that blend into the tooth. Composite restorations are great for small - medium sized fractures or cavities, and for filling in spaces between teeth. |

COMPOSITE VENEERS
This is simply the application of composite bonding material to surface of front teeth in order to change their shape or shade. Typically, Dr Toohey uses composite veneers to brighten a dark front tooth. Although they may be employed to complete an entire smile makeover as illustrated in this example, they are extremely time consuming and not as predictable as porcelain veneers, (especially in clients who grind their teeth) and often require minor touchups every few years. |

DENTAL IMPLANTS
Dental Implants are a wonderful option for replacing missing teeth, and generally offer far superior longevity, and esthetics compared to fixed bridges. They may also be employed to increase comfort and stability of a denture or to replace the denture altogether. The procedure involves placement of a titanium screw in the area of a missing tooth. After a period of approximately 3 - 4 months, the titanium fixture will have integrated with the bone adequately to be restored with a natural looking crown. |

CROWN & ONLAYS
Are you seeing more filling than tooth in those molars? Once the width
of a filling is only 1/3 the width of the tooth the likelihood of the tooth
fracturing doubles. Crowns and partial crowns (onlays) cover the weakened
portions of a heavily filled tooth, restoring its strength and esthetics. These
restorations can be fabricated with porcelain, gold, or a combination of
the two. The advantages of each type of restoration will be discussed
allowing you to make the choice that is best suited for your individual needs. |

BRIDGES
Missing a tooth? A bridge may be a great alternative to consider. The procedure involves preparing the tooth on either side of the space for a crown. At the preparation appointment the soft tissue may also be adjusted so that the false tooth has the appearance of emerging from the gums versus hanging in space. When the laboratory fabricates the restoration, the 2 crowns and the false tooth are joined together as one unit. The bridge is cemented in place for a natural looking result that doesn't come out at night!
In some cases, rather than preparing the adjacent teeth for full crowns, a more conservative preparation is completed. The false tooth is made with 2 tabs or wings that are bonded to the adjacent teeth. These bonded bridges typically fail much sooner than a conventional full coverage bridge, however they can frequently be rebonded back into place. |

PORCELAIN VENEERS
Indications:Brighten a smile, close gaps, lengthen teeth, restore chipped or crooked teeth.
Description: A porcelain veneer is just as it sounds, a thin layer, or “veneer” of porcelain that is bonded to your front tooth. Porcelain reflects light very much like a natural tooth, giving veneers an unparalleled brilliant life like quality. These restorations are durable and resist staining making them an excellent choice for smile rejuvenation. |

SOFT TISSUE RECONTOURING (GUM LIFT)
Its amazing how a little soft tissue reshaping can dramatically enhance a smile. Frequently, this can be achieved with a soft tissue laser in as little as 10 - 15 minutes. In some cases, a slightly more involved surgical approach is indicated. |

CLOSING SPACES
There are various approaches to this situation: Orthodontics (braces) to physically move the teeth together, Composite Bonding (using a resin material to build up the teeth) and Ceramic Veneers or Crowns (which are bonded to the teeth to make them larger). If the space is large, orthodontics is often encouraged so that the two front teeth don't become unnaturally wide by building them up. The orthodontist will either close the space entirely, or redistribute the space evenly among the 4 front teeth prior to having composite bonding or veneers placed. Frequently the restorative procedures are accompanied by some minor gum recontouring so the teeth maintain natural length / width proportions. |

COLD SORE TREATMENTS
There's nothing hot about a cold sore. These can be treated painlessly and without freezing using a soft tissue laser. If you
catch them at the tingly phase, they won't even break out! |
