Dr. Toohey graduated from the University of Alberta in 1991 and established a general family practice in Beaumont . In 1994, a growing interest in aesthetic dentistry launched his active study with a series of courses in Seattle, Washington, under the instruction of Dr. John Ko is and Dr. Frank Spear, world leaders in restorative and esthetic dentistry. In addition to a number of local mentors, Dr. Toohey's studies have also taken him to the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, an internationally renowned facility for post-graduate training.

Extensive advanced training has led to the development of technical skills and an artistic eye required for truly exceptional esthetic and restorative dentistry. He has shared his skills as a clinical instructor with dental students at the U of A and has spoken at local study clubs.

Dr. Toohey has been an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since 1998, regularly attending AACD international conventions. He also maintains memberships with the Edmonton and District Dental Society, Alberta Dental Association, Canadian Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and the Christian Medical Dental Society.

Dr. Toohey and his wife of 21 years, Rhonda, have two children, Krista (age 14) and Kara (age 12). In addition to being a husband and father, some of his interests include snowboarding, photography and playing acoustic guitar and bagpipes. He also began competing in triathlons three years ago, and is actively involved with their church, particularly in music.
